The Dear Hunter and Angels & Airwaves: New Music Today!

dear-hunter-rebirth-in-repriseToday’s a great day for Alex, and music in general, as both The Dear Hunter and Angels & Airwaves have released new music.  These two have been some of Alex’s favorite artists for years now, and new music from both hopefully won’t make him die of excitement.

The Dear Hunter’s new album, Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise is the long-awaited next chapter to lead singer Casey Crescenzo’s six part concept album epic.  With themes from previous Acts, orchestral strings and tones from the band’s fifth studio album Migrant, this may very well be Casey’s best work to date.  Fans will immediately be able to tell the shifted tone, but the album still feels familiar and stays true to not only the previous Acts, but all of The Dear Hunter discography.

PACO000001_1024x1024The new Angels & Airwaves (AVA) …Of Nightmares EP is also a tonal shift from lead singer DeLonge’s previous work.  As he has developed the Poet Anderson idea (the IP this concept EP is associated with), we have seen musical maturation from the previous Blink-182 member.  There is already a lot of content branded alongside this EP, including a novel titled …Of Nightmares, a full-length album The Dream Walker, three issues of a Poet Anderson comic book which is a prequel to an award-winning short film of the same name.

The Dear Hunter and AVA are somewhat following in the footsteps of Coheed and Cambria (if Coheed ever gets a movie).  Angels & Airwaves is pushing a lot of content, and Casey Crescenzo has confirmed he is working on comics for the Acts. There’s a lot of good stuff to look forward to.  But today, we’ve got amazing new music.
